Badminton is back baby!

The event that sets the pace for the forthcoming Summer of events, Badminton Horse Trials is back! After what seems like two long years of cancellations, postponements and lockdowns, Badminton Horse Trials is back in business, returning to it’s usual stomping ground, Badminton Estate, Gloucestershire from the 4th – 8th May 2022, for what can only be described as 5 days of incredible, world class equestrian action and the shopping of a country enthusiast’s dreams!

Here at In The Country, we know what the return of this event means to so many of our business friends who are eager to get back out onto the trade-show circuit, for many this is where the majority of their income is generated, and inevitably some have suffered as a result of the numerous event cancellations we’ve experienced right across the sectors.

Editor-in-Chief spoke with Jane Tuckwell, Event Director at Badminton Horse Trials briefly to ask her a few questions ahead of the highly awaited box office opening.

How does it feel to be reopening Badminton Horse Trials after what seems like so long away? Are you as excited as we are? We are very much looking forward to the event and it will be exciting to see owners and riders, trade stands, contractors, volunteers and visitors in the park again. Andrew and I cannot wait to deliver our first Badminton!

What differences and additional changes can we expect from this year’s event? The competition will follow the same format as before and there are some updates for the event itself.

All tickets will need to purchased in advance – there will not be any admission tickets for sale on the gate this year so please do buy them in advance. The “no tickets at the gate” will be strongly enforced.

We have introduced a new entrance to help with the journey into the park, particularly on the Saturday being Cross Country Day and often the most popular.  The new entrance was due to be introduced for the 2020 event and it will take users to an existing car park. The usual AA signage will be in place.

We have launched BadmintonTV and you will be able to watch every moment of the action at home when you return home from a busy day at the event itself. This is a livestream service, in an accessible package that will ensure viewers don’t miss a moment of the action, wherever they are in the world.

And lastly, the Box Office is already busy, so I would suggest to anyone that is thinking of coming to book their tickets in good time… Admission starts from £14.

With a new logo and new partner, Badminton Horse Trials has had a facelift, fit for its return. Announcing new official partner too ‘power up’ the world renowned Horse Trials, Lightsource bp. is the 2022 official event partner. “Sustainability is certainly high on our priorities for 2022 and beyond,” confirmed Jane Tuckwell, Director of Badminton Horse Trials. “We are very much looking forward to this new association and working with Lightsource bp.”

We will be keeping in touch with the team at Badminton Horse Trials to try and bring you as much information as possible ahead of the event but, one class we are eagerly awaiting information on is the Voltaire Grassroots Championships, we love to see new talent coming through and especially at Grassroots level! Whilst we are in awe of the main-event combinations, there is something extra-special about the Grassroots event, plus some of them are readers!!
