Behind the scenes: Badminton round 1

Firstly, May the 4’th be with you! (Sorry! Couldn’t resist!)

It was a rather spontaneous decision to pop up to Badminton yesterday, with my trustee ‘assistant’ Paige in tow. Initially I was only planning on attending on the Saturday, but when the prospect of the first BBQ of the year was put forward by Sally at Quintessentially Country, I just couldn’t say no.

So after a bit of wriggling around in order to squeeze everything and every one I wanted to see over the course of the event into two days, I can happily say I can do both. Sipping bubbles with you guys though the day, and then tucking into a yummy hearty BBQ in the evening. What more could a girl wish for?

Yesterday was a weird one for me, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I have been to countless horse trials before as a visitor or working on a stand for a exhibitor, but NEVER did I ever envisage attending as press.

This is a week of firsts, I am officially the director of It’s A Country Life which is now a registered company with The Companies House (search us you will see!), we have opened our business bank account AND we will be opening pre-orders for the FIRST issue!

I also took part in my FIRST Instagram take over for the lovely County Equestrian Jewellers. Which hopefully you saw on their account yesterday! It went down brilliantly, resulting in lots more followers and lots of enquires as to the piece I was wearing. I also experienced had my first paparazzi experience, which was somewhat less enjoyable in parts, due to very old fashioned ways of thinking and judgemental behaviour. My camera lens apparently wasn’t big enough to qualify for a photographer’s pass.

As Paige quite rightly put it, ‘big lens = big ego’. But I managed to get some fantastic shots which I can’t wait to share with you! The whole experience was made much more enjoyable, thanks to Nick from Events Through A Lens.

Here are a few from yesterdays trot up, including CEJ Sponsored Rider and fellow Sporting Hares brand ambassador; Izzy Taylor.

It was so nice to finally meet some of the people behind the brands that have supported me and my venture right from the get go.

To top off the excitement of the day and the buzz of this week, on the way home I found out I am a finalist for the ‘Country Style Blogger of the Year Award’. I was so shocked, I had to pull over to briefly join in the party on Twitter’s #EquestrianHour to say thank you! Congratulations to all of the girls nominated, and I wish everyone the best of luck.

Until next time,
