Ultimate Guide To The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials: A year on.

Happy Hump Day & Burghley eve!

It’s weird enough to think I have been blogging in general for over a year, but to think that I am writing a post for the same event one year on is even weirder…

If you want to check out last year’s post then you can here.

I have put together a must visit guide to Burghley, over the last year I have had the pleasure of getting to know a number of these fabulous brands and trust me – they’re worth a visit during your Burghley 2017 experience.

To many, Burghley is the pinnacle of the eventing season and with dozens of spectacular International horse/rider combinations taking to the course along with hundreds of exhibitors and pretty much all you can eat it really is a spectacle you MUST experience.

Tens of thousands of people flock to the prestigious Burghley Park estate in Lincolnshire for the ultimate eventing fix and shopping experience, just like last time, my ultimate guide is just in time for this year’s event which kick starts tomorrow with the infamous first Horse Inspection trot up sponsored this year by Hiho Silver and Horse Quest being held today in preparation.

I touched on this briefly in the current issue of the magazine during my Badminton feature, originally the trot ups were purely to assess the confirmation, fitness and presentation of the horses competing, however in previous years the focus of the trot ups has become far more shared with fashion.

The above image shows Laura Collett with Grand Manoevre at this year’s Badminton Horse Trials; she is wearing the then-newly-launched Amira Over Knee Boots by Fairfax & Favor and the Cooper Cape by Holland Cooper – two iconic luxury country fashion brands.

The trot-ups are becoming the equestrian version of a cat walk. With riders being dressed  head to toe by their sponsors for their trot up appearance and with prizes for the best dressed male and female competitor it is not just a horse inspection any more. For brands this can be a fantastic way of launching a new product or season collection or for just raising the profile of their brand in general.

Keep your eye out for Izzy Taylor who is County Equestrian Jeweller’s sponsored rider AND a fellow Sporting Hares brand ambassador, she will be competing at Burghley and taking to the horse inspections tomorrow, we’ll most certainly be watching out for her. She teamed her Sporting Hares Beauchamp Blazer with white jeans and Fairfax & Favor Suede Regina’s in Royal Blue at Badminton Horse Trials back in May (pictured above). Good luck Izzy from us here at INC!

Who should you visit?

I would firstly recommend tracking down the Dubarry of Ireland stand, they will no doubt have some products from their A/W 17 collection for us all to drool over PLUS they have a complimentary bar and my theory is a small glass of bubbles will set you up perfectly for a day’s shopping and course walking.

Annabel Brocks:  I mentioned this brand in last year’s guide but they are back a year on with lots of new additions, I definitely think this is a stand to visit, I picked up one of their Leather Contrast Belts at last year’s event and it is still makes a regular appearance. Following the success of their signature Head Warmers they have spoilt us with dozens of new products. With Autumn fast approaching they have some stunning 100% Lambs wool wraps which will compliment any outfit on any occasion.

I can see myself snuggling up in one of these this Winter…

Mackenzie & George: Melanie and Chris are just so lovely, how could you not want to stop by?! With the game season already under way, check out their stunning collection of luxurious quality leather belts with real guinea fowl and pheasant feathers, we love them so much that James & I have his & hers belts:

OR if you fancy embracing the equestrian style they have a stunning belt named after the event which was the first trade show they attended back in 2012 where they launched the brand.

The Burghley is £89.99 and is a true statement piece.

See you there?!

County Equestrian Jewellers: having recently been asked to become a brand ambassador for these guys really just fuels my obsession with their breath taking jewellery even more. I have a border-line unhealthy collection of their pieces. Coincidentally, I first fell in love with the brand after stumbling across them at Burghley last year. I was immediately drawn to the striking

Horse Leg & Hoof Bangle the incredible detailing by Chris on the underneath of the hoof was just amazing and sets it miles aside from existing products on the market – to me anyway. The same intricate detailing can be seen on the matching rings too!

There are dozens of products on offer and trust me you won’t be disappointed. I remember Chris saying to me that the bangle is like marmite; people either love it or hate it, and I love both marmite and the bangle so we’re all good there. Also keep your eyes out for an exclusive CEJ take over by britt_yorkshire7200 tomorrow at Burghley – we’ll definitely be tuning in that’s for sure!

Hicks & Hides: I included these guys in last year’s Burghley guide but focused on their collection of belts, however we bought Bella on of their stunning leather dog collars. The team went above and beyond to help us make the right decision, in the end we had a sort of bespoke collar made there and then by the team who added some cartridges for us AND personalised it by debossing her name into it. It really is an eye catching product and one that has turned heads wherever we go, I thoroughly recommend stopping by.

Much like last year it is so hard to try and fit everyone in without boring you all as I am becoming increasingly aware as I write this that it is getting rather long but bare with me, by the time I am done you will be totally ready to take on Burghley 2017.

Daltons: I have seen this brand on the circuit for the last year and it is so lovely to watch brands growing and developing. You can find a handful of the brands mentioned in The Burghley Lifestyle Pavilion including this one, with an array of belts, clutches, and clothing to choose from this brand is definitely up and coming. I just LOVE the colours Emma is going for completely mykind of colour schemes.

Teddy Edward: You will have seen we had a blast with these guys at The Game Fair a few weeks ago, but for those lady guns I would highly recommend their new innovative Cissie moleskin jeans available in black and white across a range of sizes PLUS they can be personalised with your initials. Along with these, they have a really extensive collection of men’s and women’s wear like the Belvoir luxury quilted waterproof jacket which is really comfy and figure hugging

Where to eat?

Those who know me will know I haven’t stopped talking about The Game Chef since I first tried their pheasant wrap at Badminton earlier this year.

It was delicious and James & I went one step further at The Game Fair ordering a wrap each and two portions of pheasant goujons.

Founded by Tom Godber-Ford Moore they specialise in Game based street food and trust me it is amazing. I will certainly be getting my lunch here over the weekend and it will probably resemble the GIF with the monkey struggling to carry the oranges, given the amount of food I intent to order.

For dessert – the must have at any event; chocolate covered strawberries. These tend to be little old fashioned style mobile stands dotted about the place, you can normally pick between milk, dark and white melted chocolate. The day out isn’t complete without them!

In The Country @ Burghley:

Hopefully you have enjoyed my ultimate guide to LBHT and I am positive you will have a fantastic time whichever day you go and if you are unable to make it this year hopefully this post won’t have made you too jealous!

I will be attending the event over the weekend. On Saturday I will be heading up with the lovely Kate In The Country which we are very much looking forward too, then on the Sunday Charlotte In England and I will be taking over Sporting Hares’ Instagram.

Keep your eye out for us if you’re there, I would love to catch up with you all and put faces to names. It has been such a surreal experience so far and I want to thank you all for your ongoing support. If you see me – say hi (I will probably be in a world of my own!).

If you haven’t already; the Winter issue is available to pre-order now. Our pre-orders will be running for a limited time only so don’t miss out. With competitions and exclusive news to come over the next few weeks this definitely isn’t one to miss. You can pre-order your copy here.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Until next time,

Lots of love,

Hollie-Ella Xxx
